Getting ready for your appointment
To get the flue ready, please stop adding wood after 9pm the night before your appointment and leave the fire unlit overnight, so it's fully cooled before our technician arrives.

Chimney sweep FAQs
Burning wood creates creosote, a tar-like residue that builds up inside your flue over time. Left unchecked, creosote buildup increases the risk of a chimney fire and reduces how efficiently your fireplace heats your home.
We recommend a chimney sweep at least once a year, ideally before winter. Check your home and contents insurance policy too — many insurers require an annual sweep and certificate to keep your cover valid.
Our technician seals off the firebox to keep soot contained, then works the full length of the chimney with mechanical brushes to remove creosote and debris. We finish with a visual inspection and provide your certificate and report on the spot.
Stop adding wood after 9pm the night before, and leave the fire unlit overnight so everything has cooled down ready for our technician.
